Frequently asked questions

Which size should I pick?

400×400 is a safe default for almost every site. Go to 800×800 or 1024×1024 if the platform shows large avatars or you want headroom for high-DPI screens; 200×200 is only worth it when there is a tight file size limit.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes — if you upload a PNG with transparency, the output keeps the source format and its alpha channel. Choosing a JPG output would flatten transparency onto a solid colour instead.

Why does my avatar look cropped oddly?

Crop to fill trims the longer dimension from both edges. If the subject is off-centre in the original, crop it manually first with the Crop Image tool and then square it here.

Is my document or ID photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is decoded and re-drawn entirely inside your browser with the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and closing the tab discards everything.
